Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men,
Observation
We are not required to measure the effectiveness of someone else's walk with the Lord. We have to keep our eyes focused on God and the tasks that He has given us. Moreover, we need to look at the tasks we have each day as from the Lord, seeking His guidance and will. We lose effectiveness and joy when we look at these tasks as from men. It is from this thought pattern that we start to compare our work with others, which can lead to jealousy and bitterness, two big joy zappers.
Application
I woke up this morning zapped of joy. E-mails through the weekend and night had taken their tole and I had a bad attitude. This verse reminds me that even though the e-mail was addressed by someone else it actually came from God. Taking these requests back to Him this morning I can ask Him to prioritize and equip me for these tasks. Then at the end of the day I am not being measure my man or myself, I am measured by Him.
Prayer
Father, You have set before me this day and all that is in. Please prioritize and equip me for the tasks that lay ahead. I can do all things through You, Christ, who strengthens me.
