Psalm 27:4

Scripture
One thing I asked from the LORD that I shall seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD and to meditate in His temple.(Emphasis mine)

Observation
This morning Elena and I were doing a bible study on Martha and Mary (Luke 10:38-42). In the story Martha is serving and preparing and Mary is sitting at the feet of Jesus. "But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, "Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me." (Luke 10:40).  Jesus gently rebukes Martha saying, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her." (Luke 10:41-42)
In my bible study this morning, this verse in Psalm 27:4 also came to my attention. I take it seriously when I see word from God that have similar messages in the span of 15 minutes. So I decided to go deeper and look up the word dwell in the dictionary and here is what I found.
Dwell: (Dictionary.com)
  1. to live or stay as a permanent resident; reside.
  1. to live or continue in a given condition or state: to dwell in happiness.
  2. to linger over, emphasize, or ponder in thought, speech, or writing (often followed by on  or upon ): to dwell on a particular point in an argument.
  1. (of a moving tool or machine part) to be motionless for a certain interval during operation.
I was specifically intrigued by the last definition. What I find interesting is that being motionless for an interval of time is necessary for an operation. I feel like God is saying, "Hope, everyday I want you to stop and dwell with me.  Just sit at my feet and meditate on my goodness and beauty, this is necessary for the operation of your life." What a cool message this morning.  I am just in awe that the God of the universe, the Father of life and light, desires for me, 34 year old house wife to spend time with Him. I love my God so much!!!

Application
I can relate so much to Martha.   As a task driven person,  the moment  I left ministry I tried to fill up my days with an unreasonable to-do list.  But God in His mercy and wisdom has put a number of road blocks in my way.  He just wants me to dwell with Him, meditate on His attributes, and live in the continued state of His peace.  I am learning what a precious time this really is in my life.

Prayer
Father, penetrate every crevasse of my lie.  Like David, I long to dwell in Your house each day.  I pray that the words of my mouth and meditations my heart be acceptable to in Your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer (Psa. 19:14).  And each day take me to the clefts of the rock, in the secret place of the steep pathway, and let me see Your form, let me hear Your voice ;for Your voice is sweet , and Your form is lovely (Song of Solomon 2:14).  With my whole heart I seek You.
