Elena Bible Study – Week 3 (Fruit of the Spirit - Joy)

Scripture Memorization
Psalm 51:8a Make me hear joy and gladness
Proverbs 15:13 A joyful heart makes a cheerful face, but when the heart is sad the spirit is broken.
John 15:11 These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.

Monday
S -  Read 1 Chronicles 16:32-34
Let the sea roar, and all it contains; let the field exult, and all that is in it. Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy before the LORD; for He is coming to judge the earth.  O give thanks to the LORD, for He is good for His lovingkindness is everlasting.

O -
  1. Look up the word exult in the back of your bible and write the definition.

  1. How do the trees of the forest sing for joy before the LORD?
  2. How is God judging the earth?
  3. What are two things we learn about God's personality from this passage?

A - Take a walk with your mom, notice how nature is singing for joy before the LORD.

P - Thank God for His judgment and lovingkindness.

Tuesday
S - Read Psalm 51:8
Make me to hear joy and gladness

O -
  1. How can you hear joy and gladness?
  1. Name 5 things that bring joy to your heart when you hear them.

A - Think of some nice things that you can say to people that will make them joyful and glad, then go tell them.

P - Tell God some of the things you love about Him.

Wednesday
S - Proverbs 15:13
A joyful heart makes a cheerful face

O -
  1. What are some ways you can tell someone is joyful?
  2. How do you have a joyful heart?
  1. Being thankful at all times creates a joyful heart. List some things you are thankful for.

A -Tomorrow try to spend the whole day with a smile on your face being thankful.  Talk with your mom on how things went.

P - Thank God for the list of things you are thankful for.

Thursday
S - Luke 15:10
"In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."
O -
  1. What does the word repent mean?  Look it up in the dictionary or the back of your bible to see.
  2. Why would someone repenting cause angels joy?
  3. Is there anything you need to repent of?

A - Tell your mom or dad the thing (s) that you need to repent of.

P - Have your parents pray with you as you confess your sins.

Friday
S - John 15:11
" These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.

O -
  1. Who is speaking in this verse?
  1. What are some things He has spoken to you?
  1. How does that make you joyful?
  1. What do you think it means when Jesus say's that your joy will be made full?

A - Practice your memory verses for the week

P - Ask the Holy Spirit to help you remember all that Jesus has taught you.
