Path of Sinners

Scripture Memorization
Psalm 1:1-2 How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers!  But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night.

Monday
S - Read Proverbs 12:5

O -
  1. What are righteous thoughts?
  2. What is an attribute of wicked counsel?
  1. Do you have thoughts that are wicked sometimes?
  1. Where do you think those thoughts come from?

A -
We will begin a journal today.  Spend some quiet time reflecting on your day and in your journal make a list of some of the things you both have heard and have seen.  Next to them write an R for righteous and W for wicked.

P -
Ask God to purify your mind from all the wickedness that you heard or saw today.  Ask His help in both understanding and memorizing this scripture.

Tuesday
S - Proverbs 1:10-11

O -
  1. What are some way's that you are enticed to do what is wrong?
  2. How can sin ambush the innocent?
  3. Why do you think those who are sinning want you to be apart of their sin with them?
  4. What are some ways that you can resist the enticement to go along with a crowd that is sinning?

A -
Begin praying and seeking an accountability partner.  It is important that we confess our sins, and even our corrupt thoughts to one another.  See suggested requirements for accountability partner below.  Once you have found someone you believe to be a Godly accountability partner, ask your parents before if they agree with your choice.  Once everyone is on the same page, ask that person to be your accountability partner.

Accountability Partner Attributes
  1. Someone who has accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior and is currently pursuing a deeper relationship with Christ.
  2. Someone that you know will be honest with you.
  1. Preferably someone that is not family.
  1. Someone that you feel is easy to talk to you and you could be honest with.

P -
Ask God help you resist the temptation to go along with the crowd.  Also, ask Him to reveal who or whom might be better to hang around with.

Wednesday
S - Read Proverbs 14:9

O -
  1. What does it mean to mock at sin?
  2. Why is it foolish to mock at sin?
  3. What is the promise in this verse for those who do what is right?
  4. How can you tell whether someone is a mocker or righteous?

A -
Read Matthew 27:27-31 meditate on how Jesus was mocked even though he did not do anything wrong.  Journal how this passage makes you feel.

P -
Ask God's forgiveness for mocking Him.  Praise Him for His great love that endured mocking on your behalf.

Thursday
S - Read Psalm 119:92

O -
  1. What is God's law?
  2. How can you find delight in God's law?
  3. How does God's law give you hope?
  4. What makes the bible different from all the other books in the world?

A -
In your journal list some attributes of God that make you happy.

P -
Praise God for who He is today. 

Friday
S - Read Psalm 143:5

O -
  1. What does it mean to meditate?  Look this word up in a dictionary.
  2. How does remembering what God has done help cultivate an attitude of thankfulness?
  3. What are some works of God's hands?
  4. What has God done for you this week?

A -
In your journal list some of the things God has done for you in the past 5 years.

P -
Thank God for what He has done for you.
