Elena's Bible Study - Fruit of the Spirit - Week 5 (Patience)

Scripture Memorization
Ephesians 4:1-3  Therefore, I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling in which you have been called; with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love. Being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit of the bond of peace.

Monday
Scripture - Read Isaiah 64:4
Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived,  no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him
Observation -
What makes hearing God better than hearing anything else?
What makes seeing God better than seeing anything else?
What promise does God give to those who wait on Him?
Application -
Take a note pad with you as you do things today. Write down what you see God doing around you.
Prayer-
Think of what you know about who God is and praise Him for that today.

Tuesday
Scripture - Read Isaiah 26:8
Yes, LORD, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts.
Observation -
  1. What are we supposed to do while we wait for the LORD?
  1. What does it mean to walk in the ways of God's laws?
  1. Is making God famous the desire of your heart?
Prayer -
Ask God to make pleasing Him and making Him famous the desire of your heart.

Wednesday
Scripture - Read Psalm 5:3
In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.
Observation -
  1. What do you usually say when you wake up in the morning?
  2. When do you pray and lay your requests before God?
  3. What does it mean to wait expectantly?
Application -
Try to say a prayer before you get out of bed each day. It can be a short one, like "I love You Lord", or "Thank You for this day LORD".
Prayer -
Ask God to help you think of Him right when You wake up.  God can help us be disciplined in our thought life through His Holy Spirit that lives in our heart.

Thursday
Scripture -Read Proverbs 19:2 and 20:21
Also it is not good for a person to be without knowledge, and he who hurries his footsteps errs.
An inheritance gained hurriedly at the beginning will not be blessed in the end.
Observation-
  1. What are some things that are hard to wait for?
  1. What happens when you get something now instead of waiting for it in God's time?
  1. How does waiting for something make it blessed?
  1. Take a look at the flowers you planted, what would happen to them if you picked them now instead of waiting until they were in full bloom?
Application-
Try to find other things that would be even better if you waited to have them.  See if you can come up with a list of 10 things.
Prayer -
Thank God for the inheritance you have through Him.

Friday
Scripture- Read Ephesians 4:1-3

Observation -
  1. What does it mean to be patient with someone?
  1. Who are you not patient with?
  2. How can you be more patient with him or her?
  1. What is the promise in this scripture when we are patient with others?
  1. What does unity mean?
Application -
Pick someone that you are normally patient with and go out of your way to show tolerance in love to that person.  Tell your mom or dad at the end of the day how you did.
Prayer-
Thank God for giving His Spirit to you. Ask Him to help you grow in patience.
