Psalm 143:8 - Making the rough places smooth

Scripture
Psalm 143:8 Let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.

Observation
I praise God for day's like yesterday. I woke up cranky and got in the word, then I prayed a prayer that sounded loving all the while brewing crankiness in my heart.  Not knowing what my problem was I decided to do the world a favor and head back to bead.  When I awoke I felt lazy and everything was a chore. So I listened to some sermons and felt better for a moment, but soon the crankiness and now laziness was back. So I went upstairs to read a book and felt pretty good, but found I didn't want to be around people at all.  So now I was cranky, lazy, and a hermit. Ugh, no matter what I tried I just seemed to decline as the day progressed. Before I went to bed last night I reviewed the scriptures I am trying to memorize this week, then I closed my eyes and said "good riddance" to the day.
This morning I awoke and before I got out of bed I said to the Lord, let the morning bring me word of Your unfailing love. And He did. This morning I was studying God's promises in Isaiah 26. The one that specifically spoke to me this morning was Isaiah 26:7.  God's promise is that the way of the righteous is made smooth.  In reflecting on this verse I have to ask myself, how could I even know my path was made smooth today, if I hadn't experienced the rough road of yesterday?
Isaiah 26:11-16 goes on to speak of God's sovereignty and strength, and how it is only through His might that we can even speak His name (Isaiah 26:13). Yes, through God's instruction my rough place has been made smooth.  Glory to You my King.

Prayer
Sovereign God, You are upright and faithful. I praise You for Your instruction of my heart. Thank You for holding me in Your refining fire and sanctifying me in Your truth.  Thank You for sending me word of Your unfailing love this morning and showing me the way I should go. I trust You and rely on Your faithfulness.
